Mercedes is adding night vision capabilities to its long list of crazy advanced tech. They will be automatic object recognition, and they can accurately recognize street signs and other lifeless hazards and also, living, breathing obstacles. These may include cows, moose, deer, kangaroos and more.
The feature took five years to develop. Recognizing animals isn't that easy actually, but after a tad bit of training the system with images of thousands of animals from around the world, and also pairing the tech with infra-red cameras, the vehicles can finally warn a driver if one is right up ahead.
The S-Class will shine a spotlight on the animal and track its movements so its easy for the driver to spot it at night. Lets hope this reduces the road kill! [
