How Much Of Space Junk is Orbitting Our Planet Now?

The Earth isn't alone in space. Turns out, there's a ton of crap orbiting around our planet right now. NASA says that there are over 50,000 pieces of debris traveling at speeds up to 17,500 mph around the Earth. But it didn't start out this way.
It started out so innocently in the 50's.
Then things started to get crowded fast.
