Just about every big tech company wants to ride on the wearable tech bandwagon. Only Samsung and Sony have seemed to have hurriedly rushed into the scene. And while we're all waiting to see what Apple has in store, here's Microsoft's latest smartwatch patent. It is one that can do it all.

From making phone calls to playing music, a recently released patent application from October 2012 shows off a smartwatch that is universally more useful than many others out there. The patent is designed to be a fully functional fitness tracker, music player, touchscreen phone and message device.

It can even be removed from the band and can be popped into a dock for charging. The patent suggests that Microsoft could offer a real game changer in the wearable tech arena.

Will this ever come to fruition?
