25 percent of Ikea wood is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Last year they pledged to increase the number to 50 percent within five years. If they can cut a centimeter of wood on each of their products it would save them a whole lot of money on material costs.

This could be the reason they are axing the Expedit.

Ikea has released images of Kallax, and it looks pretty damn nice, though at first glance, you can't really tell the difference. This is the new Expedit!
