Snapchat isn't have a good year in security. First, hackers got a massive amount of private user data. Then, they also circumvented its anti-robot feature. Now, cyber-security researchers show how they can use Snapchat to launch a denial of service attack that freezes your smartphone. Just great.

According to security expert Jaime Sanchez who showed the L.A. Times how Snapchat's flawed security system allows hackers to reuse encryption tokens to blast individual users with thousands of messages in a matter of seconds. All those message froze the iPhones. Android devices on the other hand didn't fully reboot, but slowed down significantly, preventing users from doing anything else.

The app company wasn't aware of the vulnerability. No word on whether they will be patching this asap.
