China's military has begun testing a new ultra high speed missile vehicle. It is designed to deliver warheads through US missile defenses.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, the country is testing new hypersonic glide vehicles referred to as WU-14. Tests were carried out last week on January 9th, and the aircraft was detected to be "traveling at extremely high speeds" over China, and was apparently "designed to be launched atop one of China's intercontinental ballistic missiles," before it glides at speeds over 10 times the speed of sound.
This could mean a huge leap forward in terms of China's aircraft arsenal, rivaling only the US military's Hypersonic Technology Vehicle, (seen above). [Washington Free Beacon]
