Known as the Clic 1010 EMP, this new tech by Novesentis' might look just like a single-layer key. The beauty is that it doesn't just move but can also provide adjustable haptic and audio feedback.
So what kind of impact will this have on keyboards? When not in use, the keys remain flat. Once power is fed to them, they can actually curve upward to give you something to press down on. Each key will also provide a gentle little vibration and an audible buzz (both features can also be adjusted).
Think of it as an actuator and sensor rolled into one, except that this device that measures in at just 10 x 10 millimeters, and can be as thin as 120 microns! It's a potentially gamechanger, especially if they decide to combine the tech with ultra-flat tablet covers.
