No one will blame you for thinking that the creature you're looking at above is not from this earth. This is the Portuguese man o' war. The purple, clear and painfully venomous creature actually comes from the ocean.

It decided to wash up on a beach to freak people out. Often mistaken as a jellyfish, it is actually a siphonophore and are a colonial organism made up of little individuals called zooids. They are attached and dependent on each other and they can't survive independently.
