Rookie group B1A4 has been receiving a lot of attention as the members come from the countryside, which is uncommon among idol groups.
In the Korean Pop scene, there are many groups with members from overseas who are called 'Global-dol's (Global + Idol). With all the members in B1A4 coming from the countryside, earning them the name 'countryside-dol's, they have been gaining popularity for the friendly charm they exude.
In reality, contrary to the polished looks of the B1A4 members, they are all from the countryside - Leader Jinyoung is from Chungbuk Chungju, CNU is from Chungbuk Cheongju, Sandeul is from Gyeongnam Busan, Baro from Jeollam Gwangju and Gongchan is from Jeollam Suncheon. There have been rumours that dialects from the various regions can be heard when the members converse daily.
According to the B1A4 members, "Although we don't have members who are fluent in foreign languages, we are fluent in various Korean dialects. If you listen to the members converse, we sometimes express the same words in different forms according to where we're from and we call it the 'dialect game'. We play it on the way to our schedules or in the waiting room; it's a pity that only we play it since it's fun and if we have the chance, we hope we can show it to others", showing that they are proud to be 'countryside-dols'.
Also, B1A4 who is currently holding fansigns at various regions in Seoul receive very warm welcomes at their respective hometowns, which they say gives them strength during their tiring schedules.
B1A4's company representatives said that "at their young age, the members who share the same dream of being singers, have left their parents' sides to live in the dormitory. Ever since they were trainees, it has been difficult for them as they miss their parents and friends but we are proud to see how they each beared with it and worked towards the bigger dream in their hearts. We are thankful for the fans who greet the members more enthusiastically whenever we visit their hometowns."
On another note, B1A4 is scheduled to promote their follow-up song after finishing promotions for 'O.K' in mid-June.
