After Star News had a phone call with Kim Heechul on morning of 22nd, he said, “I was going to enlist quietly because I’m enlisting at an old age,” he added, “I was going to reveal the information about my enlistment at my friend and colleague, Leeteuk’s radio show.”

Then he continued, “But then the people around me some said that it would be disrespectful to depart like that for the people who had interest in me, and I thought that saying was correct so the agency have officially revealed my enlistment today.”

“I thought I should extend my date of going to enlist for the army because Super Junior is having their recent comeback and activities with the 5th album [Mr. Simple] and it’s going so well, but I thought if I made my mind, I should go sooner, so I decided to enlist.” and added, “I’m actually relieved that the information about the enlistment is out.” Also Kim Heechul said, “I have a lot to do like go back to my hometown, Kangwondo and wrap my broadcasting programs.”

He also didn’t forget to thank his members and fans. “I am really thankful of my Super Junior members.” then he said, “I was kind of shy to say it, so then they texted me, ‘We can’t do it without you, Hyung’ and I felt so thankful. I believe they’ll continue Super Junior very well even if I’m not present.”

Also to fans, he said, “I am very thankful of you guys loving me for 6 years without any doubt.” and added, “But I won’t tell you to wait for me, but then when I comeback and start broadcasting again with a fresh feeling, love me back again.” and showed his humor.

Kim Heechul will get his basic training for 4 weeks, and will work for public service for 23 months.

Back in 2006 Summer, Kim Heechul got involved in a serious car accident and he has gotten a huge surgery of filling 8 irons in his legs. So therefore, he is enlisted for public service. Until now, Kim Heechul has been getting loved by fans for 6 years with his unique thoughts and words and getting a nickname of ‘Space Bigstar.’
