2011.12.21
SNSD recently performed their Japanese version of "The Boys" on the popular Japanese variety show Fuji TV's "Hey Hey Hey". However, the girls have been criticized for bad pronounciation which became quite the talk among the netizens.
On December 19th, SNSD performed the song on the Christmas Special of the show. As soon as the group finished their performance, MC and comedian Hamada Masatoshi jokingly said, "I have no idea what they are saying".
Upon hearing the unexpected comment, the other guests could not hide their uncomfortable faces, and the other MC Matsumoto Hitoshi immediately moved to next subject.
Japanese netizens commented, "You guys should study up on Japanese more" and "I hope this will be a good lesson", while Korean netizens came to the girls’ defense saying, "Let's try to understand our Korean artists, who are probably having a hard time in a foreign land".
