On December 10th, there were reports stating that Wonder Girls' Sunye decided to retire from the entertainment industry according to her interview from a charity concert at a church in New Jersey, which has shocked many fans.

Sunye said in the interview at the concert on December 5th,"Although I already reached the top as a singer, I couldn't fulfill the emtiness in my heart","I want to share the love of Jesus and live a life preaching the gospel". She also confirmed her departure from the celebrity life by saying,"Return to the entertainment industry? That won't ever happen".

Regarding the sudden shocking news, JYP Entertainment later came out denying the reports and said that those were misinterpretation of Sunye's statement,"Sunye seemed to talk about her distant future plans, not immediate future at a church event in the United States. She still remains her position in Wonder Girls. It's not true that Sunye is retiring or Wonder Girls will be disbanding. Nothing has changed at all".

The company also added,"Our contract with Sunye is still valid. What she said hasn't been talked over with the company. We have nothing to say as of now".
