Say Anything won't be performing at Riot Fest this year due to a medical issue with an unnamed member of the band. A statement from Max Bemis is below; we send our best wishes along. Riot Fest set times were posted yesterday.
Hey y’all, with one of our members dealing with some pressing and unavoidable medical issues, we regretfully have to pull out of Riot Fest. Suffice to say we are bummed. Our sincere apologies to anyone hoping to see us. Meanwhile, you guys enjoy the great line up at Riot this year and we promise to make it up when we tour our new record in 2014.

Love,
Max

Max Bemis will make his debut with Marvel Comics, penning a story in November's A+X #14. This will be his first work for a major publisher. The artwork is below.
The story, which features a team-up between the Superior Spider-Man and Magneto, is described as Bemis as being "high concept."
"It can’t just be like, 'Let’s just take the Hulk and Spider-Man and put them against this particular bad guy and they find some creative way of beating him,'" Bemis said of the story. “How do you take a team-up and make it more of a psychological study than an action piece? All of the ideas I pitched had that sort of element to it."

Read our show review of the Dallas stop of the Say Anything "Rarities" Tour with Eisley, HRVRD, and Northern Faces here.
Whether you’re a fan of rare, old Say Anything cuts or just dig tracks from the self-titled and Anarchy records, this is the show for you. Having a little bit of everything – and more surprises – this has to be one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Northern Faces bring the gritty bluesy rock, HRVRD the theatrics, Eisley the intricate atmosphere, and Say Anything top it all off with their raw, punk-inspired nature. Clearly, Equal Vision Records continues to have one of the best lineups of any label today.

It's a big week for Max Bemis (Say Anything) as the first issue of his new comic book series, Polarity, hits stores today. We haven't heard too much from him recently as he's been busy with the comic series, his numerous musical projects, and, you know, being a new dad. Luckily, Max was able to find some precious free time last week to speak with me about what it's like being a new father and how Polarity came to be, as well as some very informative updates about his projects, especially a peak into what we should expect on the next Say Anything record and how the AP.net community influenced it.
And also, just sonically, and I know I’m being a tease, but there’s definitely going to...

Max Bemis' song shop has reopened for business, now with the option of having Sherri Dupree Bemis appear on your song.
Hey y'all... just wanted to say as we approach the 2013 opening of Song Shop that it has been a great honor being able to do this project for the past 4 or 5 years. As of now we have sent out about 3000 songs (crazzzzy) and I couldn't be more proud of the reactions we've been getting. It's beyond fulfilling and I am so thankful to get to know all of you so closely. Many of you guys know my wife Sherri and I are about to have our first daughter, Lucy- even though technically when you buy a song you're paying for a service, you're also giving us as a family a huge...

At last night's Rarities release show in Austin, Max Bemis announced a handful of updates. Max and Sherri's daughter Lucy will be born within the next few weeks or so. The Perma record is almost finished and will be released in fall. Lastly, Bemis has written half of the next Say Anything record, calling it his darkest, most twisted material. The band will hit the studio to record it after the Perma record is out.

Max Bemis is writing a comic called Polarity.
From the ArticleThe series also mirrors Bemis' own character arc that he lived: "finding out I have bipolar, dealing with the disease, being in denial that I had it, screwing off and then eventually taking responsibility of it," he says. "That was sort of a drama in and of itself, so in crafting this main character, my goal is to create the ultimate archetype of a guy like me dealing with this." [...] With each issue, Bemis is also including a free download of a new original song that, when collected the others, be part of a four-track EP soundtrack for the series.
