BMW's Solar Carport and Charger Concept for the i3 and i8

BMW's new conceptual Solar Carport for electric cars will let you charge your EVs by just parking underneath it. BMW's DesignworksUSA division showcased the concept and says that it is a simple yet effective idea to charge your car using the power of the sun.

The Solar Carport directs the electricity to the car through the BMW i Wallbox Pro. The i8 plug-in hybrid sports car has a pure-electric driving range of around 37 kilometers or 22 miles.

BMW did not mention any plans for consumer production.
