VW Golf R is a very powerful hatchback. But that's not stopping them from creating an even more powerful version. They are rumored to debut a new version at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show in April.

VW will unveil a lighter, more powerful Golf R Evo at Beijing, and according to an inside source, the car will be presented as a study, with production likely to follow.

The standard Golf R's four pot engine produces 296hp and 380 Nm of torque and the Evo model should receive a small power increase.

The Golf R Evo is said to ditch the rear seats and replace them with a roll-cage, use lighter bucket seats in the front and lighter alloy wheels, as well as a carbon fiber roof and body panels.

More to come. Stay tuned
