A recent series of ads which aired last week in Alabama apparently had local residents convinced that they were about to be attacked by Aliens.
The promotion was apparently set up by Star 94.9 to inform listeners about an upcoming format change. Unfortunately, people didn't get the joke and got scared instead. Eventually the station started receiving phone calls from the police and school superintendents. Law enforcement even opted to beef security at a few of the local schools just to be safe.
You would think that the internet would make easier to denounce silly rumors about alien
invasions reported on the radio. Turns out that such things can still get blown way
out of proportion, just like the good old days.
