Instead of spending lots of money on the best quadcopters and camera equipment, here's a cheaper alternative: the Pocket Drone. It folds into a small case and can even hold on to a GoPro camera.

When packed away, it is just three inches thick and is easy to toss in a backpack. The struts supporting the props act as crash absorbing bumpers. It has three propeller blades and is a lot quieter than a four engined quadcopter.

It can be piloted using its controller, or an accompanying free app for your mobile device, or programmed to automatically follow a series of pre-lotted GPS waypoints.

The Pocket Drone is currently being crowdfunded via Kickstarter and hopefully it crosses the dream to reality borderline. [AirDroids via Gizmag]
