The fact that each of these "twerk" classes lasts about 60-minutes is already giving us a backache. This new fitness craze called 'The Vixen Workout' is sweeping across the U.S., with classes being offered in 12 locations in Florida and New York.

Started by former Miami Heat dancer Janet Jones, the classes are not just for building up some serious sweat but also for confidence-building. Women are encouraged to dress up in something that makes them feel sexy—like wedge sneakers and lipstick.
“The whole experience is supposed to be like you’re part of a performance,” says Jones.

“We have a ‘booty music’ section that’s around five minutes, which is what most people call ‘twerking’ now,”

“It’s five minutes of being in a squat, pumping your pelvis rapidly and incorporating rapid arm movements. It truly is an amazing workout for quads, glutes, and abs—and the fast-paced intensity makes it killer cardio.”
Although Jones isn't a certified personal trainer, she's uses fitness trackers in the class to see how many calories are being burned. Beginners can lose anywhere from 400 to 500 calories, while experience twerkers can lose up to 1,000 calories by completing all of the moves.
