Now here's something unexpected. Japan's latest addition to the J-Pop roster is Chubbiness, a "band" of women who distinct themselves by only accepting "marshmallow girls" as band members. And yes, that's an actual name used to refer to Japanese women whose bodies are not considered "the norm" in their society.

The group began last summer through an open casting call collaboration between the music company Avex and CanCam, which is a fashion magazine targeted to college women. The executives were apparently looking to capitalize off the rising popularity of body acceptance. Eating is a topic that often comes up during their interviews, and they even have a Twitter feed which includes lots of pictures of girls posing with food.

Here's hoping that their talents are as good as their tastes. Their music is supposed to come out in March 2014.
