Stefano Gabbana once said that "Italians know that what matters is style, not fashion. Italian style does not have social or age boundaries." Gabbana indicated that Italian clothing design and manufacture transcends trends and fads, thus always remaining in style due to the innovative approach of Italian designers. This has led to Italian fashion brands being some of the most sought-after in the world. So, how do you get your hands on them?
Most of us dream of having a wardrobe flush with designer goods. The reality is that many of us find the price points is just that little bit out of reach. While sales and discounts for big-name, high-end brands are rare if not non-existent, some deals can still be found. For example, shopping online means you can often scoop excellent discounts on brands, including Golden Goose among other high-end options. So what makes these brands so unique? How and why do savvy shoppers seek out and secure the best deals on some of Italy's finest fashions?
Launched in Italy in 2020, Golden Goose is a collaboration between designers Alessandro Gallo and Francesca Rinaldo. Classed as a high fashion brand, they are based in Venice and are well known for handmade, customized, and distressed trainers. The brand has created a complete collection of basics for both men and women, including coats, dresses, pants, shirts, and leisurewear.
They bring an exciting combination of classic style, comfort, and old-school vibes to all of their pieces. As per their website, “capturing the vulnerability of people, immortalising their essence, and showing them how beautiful they are,” is their main aim.
Dolce & Gabbana
D&G is perhaps one of the most famous fashion houses on the planet. It was launched in 1985 by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. What first started as a design consulting studio went on to redefine fashion, set trends, and influence the world's fashion market. With revenue over EUR 1 billion, they are famed for their feminine, sexy, and luxurious items that push new boundaries and standards. For men, they create custom and bespoke lines and even sportswear for premier Italian teams.
Some of their most famous creations include a colourful corset worn by Naomi Campbell and Madonna. Plus, a laminated leather dress worn by Jessica Stam and Lady Gaga, and black and white polka dots worn by the future Queen of England, Catherine Duchess of Cambridge.
Over 100 years ago, Guccio Gucci launched the Gucci fashion brand from Florence, Tuscany. The brand started out by creating bespoke leather luggage before moving into other fabrics, such as linen, raffia, and wicker. The brand soon started to produce gloves, belts, wallets, and other items before moving into footwear and fashion. Today, Gucci is known to be a preferred choice amongst the famous and wealthy, and its logo and associated prints are instantly recognizable worldwide.
Over the years, Gucci has been under the management of the Gucci family, Alessandro Michele, Tom Ford, and Dawn Mello. Gucci now has its own museum, restaurant, garden, and charitable fund to finance social change media initiatives. They’ve also donated significantly to various charities and launched environmental initiatives.
