Think Google Glass are so geek they got no chic? You're right. They don't look great. And if you're looking for an alternative, the market is not short of potential awesome ones.

The latest in this space is from a group of engineers from Elche, Spain. They have developed a stylish range of prescription lens-compatible frames that are able to communicate with a wearer's iOS and Android devices.

The "Ion Glasses", function like a smart watch or any other smartphone companion. It allows users to communicate with their smartphone or gadget without having to take them out of their pocket or bag. Wearers can see notifications of their devices remotely. They can even turn a feature on or off or even have it take a picture from several feet away.

Still, Ion Glasses won't have all the functions of Google Glass, but it still does what this wearable tech is meant to do at a fairly functional level, while looking stylish that is.

The team aims to raise $150,000 on Indiegogo to fund manufacturing development. Check out the video below:
