The U.S government is formally considering a proposal that would allow you to make phone calls mid-flight, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The new proposal comes after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved the use of electronic gadgets on flights below 10,000 feet. The WSJ points out that in-flight cellphone use was taken up a decade ago but was abandoned because flight attendants and passengers complained about hearing other people talk on the phone - which is understandable, but not a good enough reason to ban phones altogether.

But seeing as more people are talking less and instead typing more, the proposal might actually get approved.
