NASA is planning to start a farm on the moon. They will hitchhike a ride with the winner of Google's Lunar X Prize to get there.

The agency is planning on sending basil, turnips and some flowers to be planted on the lunar surface and hope they will be able to survive the radiation that the moon's thin atmosphere experiences. Will terraforming the moon affect the rest of us here on Earth?

If the plants can survive there, we may end up seeing more of it on the lunar surface someday. It could function as a source of food for future lunar colonists too.
