Forget sending a text the conventional way. That's boring! Researchers at Toronto's York University have developed a way to encode data like a text message using puffs of evaporated vodka! Imagine this as a bar trick to get someone's digits!

The system uses an Arduino controlled spray bottle. It will blast specific concentrations of alcohol across a twelve foot table towards a sensor on the other side.

Researchers were able to send a simple "O CANADA" message across the span, but they think they can accomplish a larger and further distance.

The system isn't really for bar tricks. Instead, they believe it can be used in emergency situations, where it could replace failed wireless networks to broadcast messages. Check out the video below:[PLOS One via Ars Technica]
