Imagine if you could turn any surface into a touchscreen. That's what Ubi Interactive and Microsoft have been working on. They've been developing a software that does just that. All you need is to buy the app that powers it. For $150.
It might sound a little on the steep end, but it's aimed to enterprise use in the first instance anyway. The basic $150 app supports screens up to 45 inches. Professional ($380) and business licenses ($800) provide $100 inch support. The number of touch points also increase with pricing. One with the basic version and up to 20 on the $1500 enterprise edition.
The app will run on Windows 8 PC and supports Microsoft's touch friendly Metro interface. There's also Kinect studying the surface illuminated by a projector which responds to gestures from the user. Ubi is now taking orders for the software. All you need is the app, a Kinect, and a projector. [Ubi Interactive via CNET]
