Here's maybe what Apple's camera would have looked like if Jony Ive designed it for the Cupertino company. Instead, this one is actually for Leica.

The company revealed the camera via Twitter on Tuesday. It was designed by Ive along with Marc Newson and it is a special edition RED model that will be auctioned off on November 23 to benefit the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Leica also shared initial images and a link to a Flickr gallery showcasing the Leica Digital Rangefinder Camera.

The camera itself retains its iconic style. First announced in September, the auction will hosted by Bono at Sotheby’s in New York City.

“What we create for each other is not only a comment on our culture but of course in many ways defines it," Ive said at the announcement. "(RED) is making a difference in the lives of millions of people and we're humbled to make this contribution to such an important and worthy cause.”
