When it's time to lose weight, you probably drop anything with too much sugar in it, and keep off carbs. You're not doing anything wrong here, but don't ditch the chocolate!
A survey done by market research firm YouGov found that 91% of people on UK site nutracheck.co.uk who had lost at least 10% of their bodyweight had continued to enjoy chocolate as part of their diet. The same survey found that 63% of people believe that you have to cut out certain foods entirely to successfully lose weight.
In the book Push, Chalene Johnson lists the 10 eating habits of successfully fit people, and she explains that these fit individuals hardly ever eliminate foods altogether. They just learn to enjoy the foods they crave in moderation instead of avoiding them totally and setting themselves up for a binge later.
So if you're a chocolate lover, you can still enjoy portions of chocolate, albeit smaller portions, on occasion. This applies to whatever else you enjoy eating.
