Volvo's new design direction with the new Coupe Concept is definitely something worth checking out. It's currently on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show and these pictures might suggest that company execs should give it the green light for production.

Instead of its usual boxy feel, this modern take is meant to evoke passion, and signal a change of design in the Swedish company under the ownership of China's Geely Motors. The concept also showcases the brand's new Scalable Product Architecture and its efficient four-cylinder Drive-E powertrains.

"The Volvo Concept Coupé show what you can expect from our new architecture: the confident stance, the proportions and the most prominent design signatures," said Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President Design at Volvo Car Group.

Volvo says that the Coupe is the first in its series of three concepts that will demonstrate its new design DNA. What do you think of it?
