It will only be a matter of time before autonomous vehicles are mainstream. But like any new kind of paradigm shift, it will bring about some resistance.

Automakers have already proved that they are technically and technologically feasible. Thousands of hours have been test, and some are even on public roads.

The only problem is the laws that are in place right now. They may be obsolete, and may not work in favor of this kind of tech in the event of any mishaps.

There's a huge legal side of the autonomous cars debate, which may pose serious problems for future adoption. In other words, the laws will have to change to accommodate this kind of change.
