The BMW i8 isn't the only model being shown at the automaker's Frankfurt booth. Here's the all new X5 SAV, the Concept X5 eDrive, combining BMW's eDrive technology with the xDrive AWD system.

It consists of a twin turbocharged four cylinder combustion engine and an electric motor developed by BMW Group producing 70kW (94hp). The electric motor is powered from a high voltage lithium-ion battery offering a purely electric driving range of up to 30km at speeds of up to 120km/h. The battery can be charged from any domestic power socket and a Wallbox designed to offer stronger currents or a pbulic charging station.

Average fuel consumption is estimated to be at 3.8 liters per 100 km while CO2 emissions are rated at 90 g/km. Performance-wise, BMW says the plug-in hybrid study can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in under 7 seconds.
