This sounds so Jurassic Park! A team of scientists just made an exciting discovery: the first ever fossilized mosquito with a belly full of blood. The mozzie has been underground for 46 million years.

"The abdomen of a blood-engorged mosquito is like a balloon ready to burst. It is very fragile," team leader Dale Greenwalt of the National Museum of Natural History in Washington told Nature. "The chances that it wouldn't have disintegrated prior to fossilization were infinitesimally small."

This does not mean that Jurassic Park could come true, since DNA would have disintegrated millions of years ago. There's slim to no chance that scientists could extract information they need to clone a dinosaur.

Still, it is an exciting discovery. Who knows if we'll find any more of these around. Perhaps, some even in amber. [Nature]
