According to reports, the 6-year-old from the northern Shanxi province of China was found bleeding in a field. The boy had was been playing outside before going missing on Saturday.
The boy was apparently led into the field by an unidentified woman who later gouged out his eyes before leaving him there until his parents found him. The child’s eyes were later discovered nearby and retrieved.
Unfortunately, doctors were unable to use them to restore his vision, which is heartbreaking as the child has been asking his family why the sun isn’t coming up.
Initial reports noted that the corneas had been extracted, leading to
public speculation that they had been removed to be sold on China’s black
market for harvested organs.
