A common misconception and belief most people have when they lose weight, is that fat just gets burned off. Some believe it even gets turned into muscle. But new research published in the British Medical Journal is suggesting otherwise.

Many doctors and personal trainers believe these incorrect facts.


It turns out, when you lose weight, you breathe out 84% of that fat, and 16% escapes your body in the form of water.


They found if you lose 10kg of fat, 8.4kg will be in the form of carbon dioxide and 1.6kg will be in the form of water.


Fat is excess macronutrients that get turned into triglycerides, which are stored in fat cells in your body. To lose weight, you have to metabolize them, which makes them go through a chemical reaction.


When they do go through that chemical reaction, it leaves the body in the form of carbon dioxide and water.
