Did Google's Android Wear come too late? Because Sony won't be using it for its upcoming wearable products, according to CNET.
Sony will instead be using its Android-based SmartWatch platform which was the basis for their SmartWatch and SmartWatch 2 products.
"We've already invested time and resources on this platform, and we will continue in that direction," Ravi Nookala, head of Sony Mobile's U.S. arm, told
CNET.
Consumer electronic companies like HTC, Asus and Samsung have already jumped on the bandwagon to adopt Android Wear along with Motorola and LG announcing their first products on Android Wear - Moto 360 and LG G Watch.
