If you don't want us to ruin “The Hunger Games” sequel for you, skip this post now. The film which released this weekend has some believing that they may have had more than a bit of inspiration from “The Empire Strikes Back.”

In order to convince you, here's a short compilation of all the possible parallels between the two films (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD):


“Star Wars” is about a ragtag group of rebels trying to take down the evil empire. “The Hunger Games” is about a group of rebels trying to take down the Capitol.


Both President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and Darth Vader have a penchant for capes and black gloves. They're also pretty good at striking fear into the hearts of their enemies.


The Capitol militants are also eerily similar to “Star Wars” Stormtroopers.


Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) reminds some folks of Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams). Both work with the bad guys before ditching them for the rebellion.


The film even features a flying space ship! (although it’s definitely no Millennium Falcon)


There's a scene of Finnick carrying a mute Mags from "Catching Fire", which reminds some folks of Luke running around with Yoda on his back.

The endings of both films are also similar: In "Empire Strikes Back" had Han Solo get kidnapped by the Empire and Luke Skywalker saved by a rebel ship. The ending of "Catching Fire" had Peeta captured by the Capitol and Katniss Everdeen saved by a rebel ship flying to the outskirts of Panem to figure out how to save Peeta.
