In what seems to be a celebration of R2-D2 and Star Wars, Japanese Airline ANA has announced that they will build an R2-D2 jet. Basically, it's a plane that looks like R2-D2. It's also part of a five-year Star Wars project.

It is set to hit the skies this fall.


The plane will be a 787-9 Dreamliner.


“The R2-D2 motif is also a great match to ANA’s blue logo and design that appear on the main fuselage,” the company said. “The R2-D2 character has a reputation for strong, reliable service — one of the hallmarks of ANA’s 5-star quality service.”


The airline also said it would be announcing more surprises soon. Will the plane talk R2?
