Having a crush on someone feels great. The feeling of 'butterflies in your stomach' is caused by the release of adrenalin, which causes all kinds of nervousness and excitement. Sometimes, this feeling causes you to freeze up, and not getting the courage to act on your feelings for someone.

According to science, someone who has been Friendzoned has idealised their crush as a potential mate, but an unbiased observer would tell you that you have not much in common with one another.

In other words, you and your crush are not as homogamous as you think.

The Friendzone might be explained by what's known as Baterman's Principle

The principle states that whenever a species contains two different sexes, each with dissimilar sex cells, it's inevitable that one sex is going to allocate more resources to the production of offspring. This means that one sex will end up being competitive with each other (males), and the other would end up being picky (females).
