The success of a viral video may not necessarily depend on the quality of te video but based on if people liked it or not. Most are comedic, some are touching, and some touch on controversial subjects. While some are accidentally viral, most of them have been staged. Manufactured. Amplified to reach a desired result. Here are 5 you didn't know were staged.

1. Star Wars Kid

The Canadian kid who used a golf club as if it were a lightsaber is one of the all time funniest viral videos. Except, it was actually rehearsed several times before. Check it out:

2. Charlie Bit Me!

The whole Charlie Bit Me video was staged by the mother of the boys. She had her sons use British accents to make the video more unique. It was hard to guess it was staged, of course.

3. Lonelygirl15

It started out as a video diary but gained a large following soon enough. In late 2006, it was discovered that the videos were a scripted web series. Nothing authentic about it.

4. Rusty the Narcoleptic Dog

It's impossible for dogs to become narcoleptic, and was later revealed that the dog used in the video was highly trained and able to perform tricks in the film on cue. Not bad at all.

5. Jimmy Kimmel videos

Jimmy Kimmel is no stranger to pranking the internet with his videos. They look too real, but of course, he'd later explain that they were staged. Here are a few of them:
