Which means...WHO is next? At an event in London on Tuesday, Martin was asked if there were any characters he couldn't kill and if there were some pivotal to the plot.

The answer is a big fat no, in not so many words of course.

Daenerys can't die, right?

Martin said, I have a large number of important characters who I switch between to tell the entirety of the story, and that limits who I can kill.”

But who is she going to kill? 

“The way my books are structured, everyone was together, then they all went their separate ways and the story deltas out like that.”

Is this guy next? 

“And now it’s getting to the point where the story is beginning to delta back in.”

TRANSLATION: Someone important is going to die.

“The viewpoint characters are meeting up with each other and being in the same point at the same time…”

The guy who got friend-zoned won't be dying anytime soon...or will he?

“Which gives me a lot more flexibility for killing people.”

Is Sam next? He's quite useless.

Could Margaery be next?
