A first look at Pentax's new Q7 interchangeable-lens camera will have you thinking your mind is playing tricks on you. It's tiny, and looks like a replica. But when you handle it you'll be delighted at its adorable state.

The Q7 comes after last year's Q10. Pentax's concept for these little cameras is to take mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras and turn it into something that's colorful like a retro Lomo film camera, but compact like a point-and-shoot.

To shrink the interchangeable-lens design, Pentax had to use a point-and-shoot-sized 1/1.7-inch sensor, and design a new range of lenses for the format.

Pentax execs pointed out that the camera market has hit a plateau of sorts when it comes to technology. If you can't you can't rise above everyone with tech, then maybe 120 different color options and an irresistible design will make it work.

The Pentax Q7 is available for pre-order now, and ships with a tiny "O2" lens for $500.
