The folks over at engageLab demonstrates their fantastic conceptual app. It turns out, books and tablets can live in perfect harmony. No need for the demise of old media.
Dubbed the Bridging Book, it's not yet available. The picture book is designed to sit next to an iPad, extending and providing additional content and interactive elements for each page.
The app detects when pages are turned without the need for other electronics in the book. That's because, every page features a tiny magnet on the corner, and as they're flipped, they change the strength of the magnetic field on each side, which can be detected by the iPad's built in digital compass.
