The Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon factory in Zurich is some 123 years old. And it was about to be torn down when a petition to save and relocate it popped up.

But rooting up a building and putting it somewhere else isn't a walk in the park. Swiss Prime Site, Swiss Federal Railways and ABB came up with a way to move it last May. World Architecture News reports that the 6200 ton building's basement walls were first replaced with steel pillars, and a concrete plate with tracks was build under the building and the entire structure was placed on a "specially created carriages" to have it moved.

The building was moved on six tracks at four meters per hour until it reached its new destination taking 19 hours over the course of two days to complete. Check out the time lapse video of it below.
