Skyfall Filmmakers Used 3D-Printing So They Didn't Have To Destroy Vintage Aston Martin

We can only imagine the cost to wreck expensive cars in films, but filmmakers these days often turn to computer graphics for such destruction. Skyfall on the other hand decided on a different approach. The effects crew didn't want to wreck a 1960 Aston Martin DB 5 (who would?!?!?). The car appeared in the original Bond film 50 years ago.
They used 3D printers to make one instead. Using a company called Voxeliet, they used a 3D printer with a capacity of 283 cubic feet to reproduce three 1:3 scale models of the Aston Martin. [3ders.org via Damn Geeky]
