EXO recently found themselves embroiled in a controversy, regarding a fan petition that wanted to have the members exempted from the army. As it spread around the internet like wildfire, EXO’s fan club, EXO Planet, release an official statement in response to the controversy.

EXO Planet stated:
We are writing this statement because of an anti-fan or a fan, because of that person, EXO is being cast in bad light on various portals. We have absolutely no plans to sign any petition to exempt EXO members from military service. We will always support and encourage EXO when they make the right choices, and will discipline them when they go in the wrong direction in order for them to become more mature, although we’ll be hurt. We would like everyone to know that if someone keeps spreading false information to hurt or make things difficult for the members, then we will take legal action.
EXO fans allegedly posted on social media that they will be collecting signatures on the group’s fan site as a protest of the two-year mandatory service. The petition has become highly controversial, and despite not having anything to do with it, the EXO members are suffering much hurt.
