High school can be the most exciting years of your life. Filled with new discoveries, a bunch of friends and a new lease of freedom, teenage years are all about fun and excitement. Enjoy every day of your high school years and you’ll certainly cherish them for the rest of your life!

But aside from fun, this part of your life is also when you learn the most about life. It is in high school that you transition from being a kid to an independent, unique individual, from childhood to adulthood. It’s a time when you want to define who you are and who you want to be!

High school is a time to develop your own identity. And as you begin to discover the world, you’ll slowly want to detach from the constant guidance and supervision of your parents. Your friends and peers become your largest influence.

You’ll be hanging out with your peers more often than with your family. You’ll spend most of your waking hours at school or out with your friends.

But even if you try to assimilate your peers, you don’t want to be like them. You want to stand out from the crowd. It’s just so satisfying to know that someone has a crush on you. It’s rewarding to know that people appreciate you or notice you.

Standing out of the crowd and not just being one of them is a dream of many high-schoolers. So, how can you become a standout?

Showcase your talent
Know your talents and share them with others. If you can sing or dance, you can grace the stage during school activities. If you play an instrument, volunteer in your class in playing the school song or become a member of the choir. School events are a great way to showcase your talents. Performing on stage makes you stand out from the rest. You can also present at local community activities or try doing gigs in bars.

Develop interpersonal skills
If you know how to relate well with others, you can easily become a standout. Be more open and welcoming of others. Learn how to talk with other peers as well as new acquaintances. Try to be comfortable around groups. Join clubs where you can meet other high schoolers with the same interests or hobbies as yours. Limit your time on gadgets and be more outgoing.

Be fashionable
You’ll surely be a standout when you dress fashionably. Go check out the latest trends and see how you can tweak your wardrobe to make it look more stylish and trendier high school varsity jackets. For instance, high school girls can wear the latest colorful blouses. Meanwhile, boys would never go wrong wearing stylish Varsity Base letterman jackets.

Strive to be an achiever
Even if you’re the silent type or are not comfortable around people, you can still be a standout by being an achiever. If you are the smart type, you can excel in your class. Ace the exams consistently and you’ll eventually get the nod of your peers. Don’t worry if you’re not the brainy type. Know what particular field you’re good at – athletics, arts, poetry, debate, leadership, etc. – and strive to be an achiever in that field. You’ll easily be a standout.

These are some simple tips to help you stand out of the group. However, remember that there’s a very thin line between confidence and arrogance. You don’t want to overstep, or else, your friends might ditch you for being so arrogant.

Finally, while it is good to be the center of attention, you don’t need to force yourself to be at the limelight. It’s alright if you don’t want to get the attention of others. If you’re really the reserved type, then that’s perfectly fine. You don’t have to force yourself to be what you are not.
