Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" Accused Of Insulting Muslims

Katy Perry's music video for "Dark Horse" has been out for a week now, but the singer is apparently facing backlash for featuring a man wearing an Allah pendant who disintegrates into sand upon her command.
The pendant was first spotted by eagle-eyed viewer Shazad Iqbal, who subsequently put up a petition on Change.org asking Youtube to remove the video. The petition currently has over 45,000 signatures. Here's an excerpt from the Change.org page:
'Blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of God) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames.
'This is the reason for lodging the petition so that people from different walks of life, different religions and from different parts of the world, agree that the video promotes blasphemy.
'Using the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner would be considered inappropriate by any religion '
While it might be incredibly poor taste, this is after all Katy Perry we're talking about here. We doubt she even knows what religious symbols even look like in the first place.
