Choosing the Right Sunglasses is Both an Art and a Science
Dec 20, 2020 08:38
Has it ever happened to you that, after having used a sunglass for a long time, you have had to buy a new one and you cannot find one that satisfies you? It is not always possible to repeat a positive experience: Fashions change, shapes, colors and the products that have previously satisfied us are no longer available.
We are making this selection based on our personal experience: prescription sunglasses at Designer Optics know what has worked well for us and we try to repeat. And that's perfectly valid! the art of choosing sunglasses to suit everyone.
However, beyond the personal tastes and experiences of each one, there is also a science that helps us choose the right sunglasses lens that suits us, taking into account two of the characteristics of the lens: the filter category of a spectacle of sun and its color.
In this article we will explain how we should choose the color of the sunglasses' lenses.
The Right Color of Sunglasses Depends on the Activity
I don't think we can agree on the right color for almost anything. The experience of color is personal and highly subjective; the saying is already known: for tastes, colors.
But that does not mean that we cannot talk about the right color for some specific activities or situations. An example: it is not the same to choose a sunglasses to use on a boat (where we are going to be surrounded by an extension of different shades of blue) than to choose a sunglasses to drive (in which the perception of the primary colors - red, green, yellow - is critical).
It is precisely in specific circumstances that we can get the most out of a specific color.
•It is a pleasant color that does not alter the perception of colors excessively
•Reduces visual fatigue
•Suitable for areas of lighting that alternate areas of light and shadow
•Recommended for outdoor sports
•Suitable for cataract / refractive surgery
•It is the most neutral color: the one that least alters the perception of colors
•The color blue alters the perception of colors more than gray or brown
•Recommended for nautical and winter sports
•Suitable for hyperopes
•They offer great brightness and greater contrast
•They are not suitable as a sun lens
•Recommended for use in low light conditions: driving at dawn / dusk or in fog
•May be suitable for some retinal diseases
Glasses Models According to your Face
We give you the keys to find the ideal glasses for you according to your face.
Glasses for Oval Face
•Your features. You have a harmonious face of symmetrical proportions. The cheek line is slightly wider than the forehead and tapers gently towards the chin.
•Your ideal glasses. Virtually all models of glasses will suit you. Of course, pay special attention to the proportion, that is, if your face is not very large, do not choose oversized glasses.
Glasses for Long Face
•Your features. Narrow forehead and cheeks and thin chin.
•Your ideal glasses. A frame that visually widens and shortens your face, glasses with long lines across the width with soft-colored frames that slightly widen the face. Choose glasses with thick temples to visually shorten the face.
Glasses for Triangular Face
•Your features. Narrow forehead and pronounced chin.
•Your ideal glasses. Choose frames that give volume to the upper part to divert attention to the lower part of the face, minimizing the width of the face. To expand the dimensions of the forehead, use elongated glasses that cover as little of it as possible without leaving the temples.
Heart Face Glasses
•Your features. Wide forehead and cheeks and small chin.
•Your ideal glasses. Choose frames that add volume and draw attention to the lower part of the face. opt for light-framed or rectangular glasses.
Square Face Glasses
•Your features. Wide forehead and cheekbones and wide, marked jaw.
•Your ideal glasses. Ditch the glasses with regular corners and go for oval styles, not overly round. Opt for a model as tall as possible, discarding those that are horizontally very elongated. The goal is to decrease the height of the face and compensate for the size of the forehead.
Round Face Glasses
•Your features. Circular shape without marked features, short chin and sweet expression.
•Your ideal glasses. The proportionality between the width and the height of the face will be sought, occupying most of it. We recommend large and angular glasses, square or rectangular, with thick edges, thus achieving a slight elongation of your features. The models with thin temples will help you to lengthen the face.
Glasses to Hide Nose
•Big nose. Choose large, metal frames. Avoid small round glasses that highlight the nose.
•Long nose. Pick out prominent frames with thick temples to divert attention. In addition, the double bridge models shorten the nose.
•Small, upturned nose. To visually lengthen the nose, choose glasses with a high bridge and in soft colors.
