Looks like someone at LG headquarters has managed to "accidentally" forwarded this official press release about the upcoming curved screen G Flex smartphone. The announcement has since been pulled, but not before specs of the phone were taken down.
Just like it's straighter predecessor, this curvy G2 features a
quad-core 2.26Ghz Snapdragon 800 processor, 13 megapixel camera and 2GB
of RAM.
As for the strange banana-shape, this 6-inch, 720p OLED screen is actually curved along a horizontal axis. The shape supposedly helps increase call sound quality and boosts volume by 3db.
But what we're really keen on is learning more about the "self-healing" back cover, which the company says sheds scratches within minutes. If this requires any peeling, then this device really does deserve it's "bananaphone" nickname.
The G Flex will be released in South Korea sometime next month, but no word on an international release. Stay tuned for more info.
