6 months A year with Cube Entertainment. Artists of the Cube Family will hold their first ever showcase on January 5th, 2010 at Melon AX HALL. Youngji, MARIO, 4minute and BEAST will take part in the event. This showcase epitomizes how 4minute’s and BEAST’s label managed to make its name on the Kpop scene after a successful year. Say what?
Cube Entertainment has been active for a long time now, producing music for Korean and foreign artists, but the company started to gets recognition in South Korea for its own promoted artist back in late 2008 - when Mario stepped on stage - and is now getting closer to the major ones. However, one can’t say that the path to such achievement wasn’t rugged at all. Play Cube got often nicknamed as JYPE’s sister company, because of the tight relations between the two companies. In a way, such reputation stained the artists’ potential and the company’s projects received negative responses at the beginning (especially when the company was also blamed for its bad promotions towards 2AM)
In 2009, Cube Entertainment finally entered the idol market, launching 4minute in June and BEAST in October. Both groups eventually gathered love from their fanbases and eventually received a rookie award. Their first mini-albums also received great responses judging the explosives sales they got. 4minute notably obtained several endorsement contracts with major brands and is dubbed as one of the most trendy girl group active. Cube Ent artists’ talents are now recognized and are even expected to get better with time. Furthermore, Play Cube enjoyed the fame of its producers, lyricists and musicians who were involved in Lee Seunggi’s 4th album and girl group T-Ara’s first album this year for instance.
The showcase will end 2009 and open 2010 on a good note and it seems that what future holds for Cube Ent is bright. Regarding what is up for 4-4-4-4minute: their first mini album is said to be soon released in Philippines and two members, Jeon Jiyoon and Kim HyunAh are currently preparing their respective solo albums. We can also expect more from the company as the bossy boss is oh-so-motivated to go further and maybe hope to see other Cube artists on stage for new promotions next year.
