2NE1, the K-pop female quartet with Sandara Park as member, won as Best New Artist for 2009 in an online poll participated in by Filipino fans.

The poll was conducted by organizers of the First Philippine K-Pop Convention, which was held last Dec. 5 in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Organizers said about 3,000 Filipino fans voted in the poll that was conducted in November.

Filipino K-pop fans also picked “Nobody” by the Wonder Girls as Song of the Year and “Gee” by Girls Generation as Music Video of the Year.

Some 13 Filipino fan clubs of K-pop idols joined the one-day convention where they got to join games and buy K-pop goods including CDs.

These are fan clubs of TVXQ, Big Bang, Super Junior, Girls Generation, Wonder Girls, SHINee, Shinhwa, Rain, SS501, FT Island, f(x), 2NE1 and 2PM/2AM.

The convention also became a fundraising event for Gawad Kalinga, a foundation that aims to ease poverty in the Philippines and provide homes for the poor.

The fans also chose Super Junior’s third album, “Sorry, Sorry,” as Album of the Year.

On the other hand, Kim Hyun Joong, leader of pop group SS501 and star of the hit Korean drama series “Boys over Flowers,” was chosen as the Hottest Male K-pop Star for 2009 and 2NE1’s Park Bom as the Hottest Female K-pop Star.

Kang Dae Sung, member of Big Bang and a mainstay of the popular Korean entertainment program “Family Outing,” was voted Best Variety Idol.

The Filipino fans also signed up for an online petition asking the Korean Embassy in the Philippines to bring more K-pop idol groups to perform in the Philippines.
